7 Tips to Take Action and Achieve Your Goals in Life

Your dreams can be so much more than just If only‘s or What might have been‘s. Yes, life is tough and things don’ t always turn out the way you want them to. That does not mean though that you’re never gonna make it or that your time is up. Don’t give up and settle for a life ahead where you’re just being forced to get through every single day without doing something that actually makes you happy. You need to discover the potential you have, work on becoming better at it and then set goals for success.

I Decided to Give My Dream a Try

I never thought I would actually get to write about what I wanted after choosing Business as a career. I haven’t written in so long and I felt my words drifting away from me. I lost faith in my talent and thought that I couldn’t pursue it as a career since I had zero background, or a legitimate degree. I can’t exactly just present my high marks in English from high school and expect people to hire me professionally.

But, 2019 was the year for action. I wanted to break out of the boring life I had and finally decided to do everything I ever wanted to do. Throw out the laziness and procrastination. Those will lead you nowhere. Get up move and you make those things happen yourself.

7 Tips to Take Action and Achieve Your Goals in Life

1. List Things Down and Take Some Time to Plan

What are the things that you’ve always wanted to do, but never got the chance to? I would suggest only using keywords. You don’t have to be over descriptive. List them all down in your phone or on paper. Under those, state the reason/s why you weren’t able to do them yet accompanied by answers on how you can fix that. With this, you’ll have a clear idea of what you’re supposed to do next to solve that problems right away. I recommend using Microsoft OneNote App for this. (Click here to download for IOS, and Android).

You’ll be less conflicted and actually realize that there’s actually a chance of your dreams coming true. You can see things much clearer if you take ideas out of your head and lay them out in the open. You’ll also have something tangible to go back to from time to time to serve as your guide so you won’t easily forget.

2. Research and Think about Your Options

You won’t know things right off the bat. That’s why you have to take time to find out what’s out there. Ask your friends who may have ideas or search the Internet because there are a lot of blogs or YouTube videos that will certainly be helpful. Don’t be afraid to admit that you don’t know, because not knowing can easily be fixed as long as you’re not stubborn and be willing to actually learn. And once you get the information, write them all out in your plan and choose which one can be more suitable or practical for you. It’s no longer going to be this big of a problem preventing you to actually go out and try.

3. Set Long Term Goals and then, Short Term Goals

Don’t be afraid of thinking about the big picture. You have to realize that with every long-term goal, there should be a set of short term goals under each. If you keep working thinking of only the big picture, and then you’ll get easily discouraged because you can’t get that right here and right now.

What you should do is line up a series of short term goals to focus on, on your way to the big long-term goal. Take things one step at a time. Continuously gain experience and learn about what you can do better. It’s not going to be easy and you have to be willing to take on bigger challenges because after attaining a goal, the next ones will only get harder and harder to achieve. Believe that you can do it and with every short-term goal achieved, you’re only getting closer and closer to that big dream of long-term success.

4. Prioritize and Take Things One at a Time

You are only one person and you can’t do everything all at once. Choose the one thing you can take on first. Prioritize on getting that done, before you move on to the next ones. Don’t be pressured into thinking you have all of these things to do at the same time. You don’t have to do that. Just simply keep your list and pick out the ones you can do and schedule them into the days when you can do them. Focus on slaying one dragon at a time, you’ll have a better chance of being alive by the end of it.

5. Incorporate Productive Practices in your Daily Routine

Life is basically just following the same routine day by day. So technically if you just insert a new element into everyday routine, and then you’ll be able to be more productive overall. Sneak in productive and healthy behaviors because in time, they form habits. Set some special time in your day or week to just do the activities related to your goals.

You should never be too busy to take time for yourself. Unlike everything in life that makes you feel defeated. Accomplishment and working towards your goals leaves you feeling empowered and energized. Don’t be lazy. After just a small amount of time, that new practice will be so natural to you that it’ll be easy to do. Once you get used to it, you’ll already noticed how far you’ve come and how so much better you’ve become.

6. Be Patient, but Consistent

You won’t get results immediately. It will take some time and you can’t force what you want to happen right here and now. You have to trust that as long as you’re consistently putting the effort in, that you’ll get somewhere. As long as you’re doing something in a regular basis, you’re only getting better and your work will only build up and take you higher and higher, closer to attaining your goals.

7. Reward Yourself for Every Goal Achieved

I knew you could do it. It was super hard, but wasn’t it all worth it? And from what you initially thought was impossible is actually a reality you’re living in right now. That in itself, is something to be genuinely happy and proud of yourself about. Reward yourself and don’t be afraid to enjoy the victory because you deserve it. It will motivate you to consistently get moving and keep up towards that big dream. Also, enjoy the journey because you’re already on the path to success. And no matter what happens, you’re freaking killing it.

I’m so excited for what’s to come because you really just need that one moment to declare that you will achieve your dream and you’re willing to work for it. No matter how old you are or how impossible it might still be, there is still time and there will always be ways to make that dream come true. I believe in you and you have to trust yourself that you can do it.

It doesn’t matter if you’re fast or slow, if you’re ahead or far behind. As long as you’re on the way, you’re doing great, Sweetie!

It was through trying again and starting from scratch basically that I was able to believe in myself again. I had to keep writing every single day, and be open to criticism and let my creativity free to be confident enough to believe in my own work. I incorporated writing back into my life and now, it has become such a big part. In this age of technology, we are fortunate to have tools that can aid us in our journey towards success. Consider using goal-tracking apps to streamline your progress and stay organized. These apps not only help you set clear objectives but also provide a systematic approach to achieving them.

Writing for me is more than just a hobby now. I use it in all aspects of my life and helps me through whatever I’m going through because I know that I’m living out my purpose. Through sharing the experiences I’m going through growing up, I actually get to help other people to appreciate themselves and believe in their potential. The future is bright and big goals are set for my blog and my writing career. I am on my path and I am taking you guys along the journey with me. Isn’t it all exciting and we are all just getting started!

Agree. The first step of reaching your dreams is taking action! And yes, action involves planning and research, not just daydreaming of “what-if”.

Taking one step at a time works really well for me. I take a pause and calm myself down and do one thing first before proceeding to the next.

All points are well said, but I’d like to focus on listing your goals.I can relate to this. In this digital age, sometimes I forget to write notes. But this is always an effective tool of reminding you of your goals, whether short term or long term. Good luck in achieving them!
