The day we met
Frozen I held my breath
Right from the start
I knew that I found a home for my heart

A home for my heart?
Corny right?
I didn’t use to get those old cheesy love songs.
I mean they’re all the same.
Love at first sight?
Finding your soulmate?
A wedding?
And then, they lived happily ever after…
I mean, come on!
This is reality.
There’s no background music playing as you stare at each others eyes
If you walk up to someone and ask for their number,
You’d be considered a creep, a huh?
Hahaha
Well call me a hypocrite…
Irony, I admit, you got me.
Growing up, I always kept to myself.
I focused on school,
Tried to make my parents proud,
That’s it.
I had myself. I didn’t need anyone else.
It was lonely, growing up in the closet
Like I never imagined a future
Of ever, ever feeling
love?
But you,
You actually replied to me!
A random stranger who came out of nowhere…
I told you, I hated how common my name was!
Then you offered to call me by yours…
It was the sweetest thing.
And I didn’t know i was in for a sugar rush!
We talked about everything and nothing.
I was surprised because we like the same things.
Like me, you used to cry whenever your parents left for work.
And now, they just seem so far away…
Its weird, i feel like I’ve known you for a thousand years
Is this Destiny? Meant to be?
I don’t talk much to people.
But with you? I couldn’t stop.
You opened me up layer by layer
Embracing my very core, flaws and all
The songs I’ve heard a hundred times before,
When you made me listen to them,
I finally understood what they meant.
I just couldn’t help but to fall
harder and harder.
They said
In love, you have to find someone who feels the same way you do.
Something that feels
Real,
Genuine,
Honest,
and Sincere?
I imagined a future of us together.
How I would fit in all your dreams:
A house, and 2 kids
I was so sure, you were there one…
Right?

I don’t need to be fooled
I don’t wanna hope for our someday
I’m just tired

You used to call me Ian.
I don’t know what happened, but you stopped.
I guess you forgot?
I mean that’s normal
people are forgetful, right?
Right?
Funny, I tried to be funny.
To mask the doubt, the hurt, and the anger
I held onto you so tight,
But, you just weren’t there anymore…
Was any of it real?
Did I make everything up in my mind?
Was i really that stupid to believe all those silly love songs?
I am a fool.
I bet, I bet you didn’t even notice
that you left me hanging,
Hanging with all of my expectations
From your false promises.
None of it meant anything.
Both of us just wanted the attention,
the idea that someone out there actually cares.
It was all a game at the end, huh?
You humor me, I humor you.
And I guess, I lost?
because I made a mistake.
I was the only one
calling it
love.
